Baptisms

Any adult of at least 18 years of age may self-baptise at any time by uploading a video to YouTube with the new member reciting the baptismal oath (below). We must be able to see the new members face and clearly hear the spoken oath. Selfies are encouraged. Please email a link of the completed video to seankennyphd@gmail.com for validation.

Baptism videos are linked to the COSJ YouTube page as they arrive. When a new member uploads his-her baptism video, the date of upload is the official date of baptism assuming the pledge was correctly taken and approved by the COSJ board. For non-English speakers, do your best. We will not penalize you for mispronunciation. You may also restate the oath in your preferred language.

Baptismal Oath

I (name) pledge firm allegiance and ongoing fidelity to the basic principles of the Church of Social Justice.  I take this OATH as an act of FREE WILL with the sole and express purpose of serving the greater good by building a more peaceful and tolerant world for ALL.

Whenever possible, I SHALL:

-HELP THOSE IN NEED.

-RESPECT THE DIGNITY OF ALL HUMAN BEINGS  ESPECIALLY THOSE DIFFERENT FROM ME.

-EDUCATE MYSELF ABOUT OTHER CULTURES AND PERSONS DIFFERENT FROM ME

-ACTIVELY REFUSE TO SCAPEGOAT ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP

-USE OBJECTIVE, OBSERVABLE, AND REPEATABLE METHODS TO GUIDE DECISIONS.

-DISAGREE IN A RESPECTFUL AND NON-VIOLENT MANNER.

-STRIVE TO UNDERSTAND OTHER POINTS OF VIEW ESPECIALLY WHEN I DISAGREE.

-OPEN MY HOME TO REFUGEES.

-DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO END POVERTY, INJUSTICE, VIOLENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION

-DO ALL I CAN TO  PROTECT THE MOST VULNERABLE

-MAINTAIN RELIGIOUS FREEDOM FOR ALL BY ENCOURAGING TRUE WORLDWIDE DEMOCRACY

And

I resolve, once and for all, to use FEARLESS COMPASSION as my guide in all endeavors.
